 PROBLEMS WITH CONTENT ADVISOR

PROBLEM

Unable to view web pages due to problems with Content Advisor. You can't get into Content Advisor because it keeps asking for a password, but you don't know the password or haven't set one up.

CAUSE

This could be caused by the 'Ratings.pol' file becoming corrupt.

SOLUTION

The password for content advisor is help in the registry, encrypted. Go to START>RUN and type 'regedit' then press ENTER. Then, navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Ratings

Once there, you should find a key in the right hand window called 'Key'. You need to right-click on it and then select 'Delete'. Then close 'Regedit' and restart the computer. You should now be able to change/disable Content advisor.
