PROBLEM
When closing Internet Explorer by
clicking on the 'x' in the top right corner of the screen, an auto
disconnect message box used to appear giving the options to either
disconnect or stay connected. For some reason it seems to have stopped
doing this and just closes but stays connected. How do you get this
feature back.
CAUSE
'Disconnect when connection may no
longer be needed' may not be ticked.
SOLUTION
Try the following in Internet
Explorer to get the auto disconnect feature back:
- go to Control Panel >
Internet Options
- Select the Connections tab,
highlight your connection under the Dial-Up Settings and then
click on the Settings button.
- Click on the Advanced button in
Dial-Up Settings.
- Make sure that the option to
'Disconnect when connection may no longer be needed' is checked.
If it already is then untick and then re-tick it.
If you still cannot get the auto
disconnect feature to work properly then you can right-click on the
connection icon in the System Tray (the icon looks like 2 computers
connected together). This will bring up a shortcut menu with an option
to Disconnect from the Internet.
